34th AICUF National Council
12th August to 15th August 2022, 34th
National Council was begun with the theme of “Revisit and Renew AICUF Towards
Centenary and Beyond” At the national secretarial of AICUF where 14 sates
registered for the council. Inauguration was held on the 12th in the
evening. All participant marched in a procession towards the stage where the
participants were made aware of the injustice faced by the Dalits, Tribals and
the lower communities and they were also made aware of their rights by a skit
play performed by the local youth. After that registration was done of each
participants and they were divided into 5 groups.
13th August, the first day of the council began
with Holy Eucharist. Resource person of the day was Mr. Babu Mathew, former
National AICUF President gave AICUF orientation. How AICUF originated, AICUF
before independence, after independence, role of AICUF in independence and the
challenges faced so far. Fr. Maxim SJ presented AICUF presentation in the
second session of the day he explained the vision and mission of AICUF where he
emphasized on few points such as need of collaboration, need of amendment in
AICUF constitution, walking with the excluding etc. in an another session which
was taken by Fr. Benjamine SJ he explained the meaning of AICUF logo, the logo
stands for Church, University and society. He explained AICUF constitution and
other bodies such as IMCS (International Movement of Catholic Students), CBCI
(Catholic Bishops Conference of India), JCSA (Jesuit Conference of South Asia) in
detail. Annual state reports were presented by South Zone (Karnataka, Andhra,
Tamil Nadu and Kerala) The day ended with talent hunt program where 5 groups
presented different performances.
14th August, the second day of conference began
with meditation and Holy Eucharist. Resource person of the session was Dr. Paul
Newman who is also a former AICUFer and a social activist. He talked about how
a role of AICUF in our lives he also talked about sustainability. Second
session was led by Sr. Jansi she presented women commission report. She talked
about problem faced by women and the challenges of women empowerment. Sate reports
were presented by central Zone (MP/CG, Ranchi, Dumka and AYCM report) and West
Zone (Mumbai, Gujarat and Nation Report). The day ended with Cultural Night
where every state present their culture.
15th August. The last day of conference began with
Inter-religious prayer. After that the flag hosting was done. After breakfast
review of the last two days done and panel discussion was done where all 5
groups leader gave their point of view on the basis of each day group
discussion. And then action plan of each of the sates was presented. At last
the council ended up with valedictory and photo session.
